Managing real estate private equity is high risk high reward. As a sponsor you are responsible for sourcing capital, acquiring property, adding value and creating an exit strategy whether immediate disposition or a longer term hold. Sponsors and general partners typically specialize in specific real estate asset types and have a plethora of connections for financing, construction, real estate professionals, etc. You are responsible for creating deals and handling your investors’ funds and achieving the goal returns. Sponsors need to be extremely educated and experienced. In this game it’s all about who you know and who they know, the connections are what count. If you can manage all of this you can create an extreme amount of wealth in a relatively short period of time.
